Migrate from Vagaro

Move from Vagaro to PeakSpitz, safely.

Moving off Vagaro should feel like restoring from a backup, not a leap of faith. Your booking & salon tool data is read into a PeakSpitz environment of your own, checked against your real numbers, and run in parallel — while Vagaro keeps running, untouched, the whole time. Here is exactly how, step by step.

Vagaro's strength is breadth: one system that handles appointments, classes, memberships, packages, POS, payroll and marketing across both beauty and fitness, plus its own marketplace. If you run a hybrid salon-and-studio, that range is a real fit. Teams typically migrate when the breadth turns modular — pricing is commonly per bookable calendar with many capabilities sold as separate add-ons, so a full setup becomes a stack of line items, and core accounting and VAT still aren't the system's centre of gravity. PeakSpitz folds sales, storefront, inventory and real accounting into one plan with unlimited users.

The safe way to leave Vagaro

Work down the list at your own pace. Nothing here is irreversible, and your current system stays live throughout.

  1. 1

Before you touch anything — get a backup you own

Get a copy of your data out of Vagaro that you control — a file held on your side, not just a setting inside the system. Confirm in your contract that you have the right to export, and note any renewal, notice or lock-in dates so the timing stays on your terms.

  2. 2

    Export your data

Pull clients, appointments, services and stock out of Vagaro in the most complete format it offers — CSV, spreadsheet, or an account/API export. Take the history too, not just open items: past records, documents and contacts are worth keeping.

  3. 3

    Send us a sample

Before you commit, send us a representative slice — a handful of customers, a few recent orders or bookings, part of your catalogue. We map it into PeakSpitz and show you the restored result, so you see exactly how your booking & salon tool data lands before you move the rest.

  4. 4

    See what maps to what

We line Vagaro up against PeakSpitz: clients, appointments, services and stock become customers, catalogue, orders, documents and ledgers in one joined-up system. Anything without an obvious home is flagged early, not discovered late.

  5. 5

    Bring it in — a read-only restore

Your data is read into a fresh, isolated PeakSpitz environment of your own. Nothing inside Vagaro is touched, changed or switched off — it keeps running exactly as it is.

  6. 6

    Verify against your numbers

Before you trust it, reconcile the totals — balances, counts, tax and revenue — against what Vagaro shows today. The numbers have to match before anything goes live.

  7. 7

    Run both in parallel

Keep Vagaro live and run PeakSpitz alongside it for as long as you like. Compare like for like, move one area across first, and build trust before you depend on it. No big-bang cutover, and no deadline from us.

  8. 8

Cross over and decommission — on your terms

Switch over only when PeakSpitz has earned it. Keep your Vagaro export archived as a safety net, and close the old subscription when you are ready — not a moment before.

What to watch when leaving Vagaro

  • Capabilities you bought as Vagaro add-ons — forms, marketing, check-in, the marketplace listing — don't map one-to-one; some become native features in PeakSpitz and the consumer marketplace is a separate channel decision. List what you actually use before assuming a like-for-like swap.

  • If you sell class packs and memberships alongside chair appointments, prepaid session balances and pass counts are a cutover decision. Reconcile remaining sessions to a cut-off date and load them as opening balances so members keep what they paid for.

  • Cards stored for auto-renewing memberships stay with the payment layer and do not transfer. Every recurring member re-authorises on PeakSpitz, so plan the switch around the billing calendar to avoid a missed or double charge.

  • Payroll history and the commission logic behind it don't import. Rebuild commission and tip rules as configuration on the new system, and keep the Vagaro payroll records as a read-only archive for prior periods.

Common questions about leaving Vagaro

We run beauty and fitness in one Vagaro account — can PeakSpitz do both?

PeakSpitz handles appointment-based services and scheduled, capacity-limited sessions, so chair appointments and class-style bookings sit in the same system. Credit Vagaro for how mature its fitness tooling is, and confirm your specific session and pack needs during setup rather than assuming an exact feature-for-feature match.

Will our add-on features still cost extra?

PeakSpitz's plan is one platform with unlimited users, not a base fee plus per-calendar and per-feature add-ons. Core sales, storefront, inventory and accounting are included; the saving usually comes from collapsing the add-on stack.

Does payroll come across?

No — payroll runs and their history stay in Vagaro as an archive. On PeakSpitz you rebuild commission and pay rules as configuration, which is a deliberate re-setup and a chance to simplify rules that had drifted.
